What Is Apple Search Engine Really All About

According to a recent report from The Information, Apple is working on launching a search engine to compete with Google. This comes amid broader improvements to Spotlight search.

According to the report, Apple’s work on search technology is experiencing setbacks as a result of Google losing talent. In 2018, Apple looked to reinforce the improvement of its own web crawler by purchasing AI startup Laserlike, which was established by three previous Google search engineers.

The technology of the company suggested websites to users based on their interests and previous web browsing. The founders of Laserlike are now reportedly back at Google.

Apple’s pursuit group is accepted to contain something like 200 workers and powers the innovation behind Spotlight, Siri Ideas, and answers given by ‌Siri‌. The group is currently no less than four years from sending off a by and large substitution to find out about search, as per one individual engaged with the group addressing The Data.

Even though Google charges Apple approximately $15 billion annually to maintain its position as the default search engine on Apple devices, the development by Apple of its own search engine could increase the company’s ability to negotiate the deal with Google.

Apple appears to have discussed using its developed technology to power search for Apple Music and the App Store in the interim. This search technology is currently used by Apple to generate data for teams working on apps that use natural language processing, such as the Translate app, and to use tweets to identify newsworthy events that should appear in results and recommend articles for Apple News; however, it has the potential to be utilized in a more extensive manner in the future. Spotlight is said to be one of the search team’s immediate priorities, with the goal of handling “100 times more” queries than it currently does.

Since at least 2015, when Apple first confirmed its Applebot and posted a series of search-related job listings, the concept of an Apple search engine has been rumored, and rumors about the service’s eventual launch have resurfaced on occasion.
